How much Milan will earn from selling Morata to Galatasaray

Milan are negotiating Alvaro Morata’s move to Galatasaray, a deal that would be crucial in helping them raise the funds necessary to sign Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord.

Reports emerging Thursday afternoon confirmed that the Spanish striker’s departure is strictly linked to the arrival of the 23-year-old, whom the Rossoneri have identified as their primary target to provide coach Sergio Conceição with an attacking reinforcement.

While it was surprising to learn that the Diavolo were in advanced talks to sell a striker they brought in last summer, his departure would make sense from a financial point of view, considering the heavy investment they are expected to make to persuade the Eredivisie giants to sell Gimenez in January.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan and Galatasaray are close to reaching an agreement on a loan with an obligation to buy set at €16m, which is more or less the same fee the Rossoneri paid to Atletico Madrid just six months ago.

Such a move would allow the Diavolo to fully recoup the money they spent on a striker who ultimately proved less prolific than expected, and use the funds to secure one of the most exciting attacking prospects in Europe, with plenty of room for improvement.

Morata has only scored once in his last nine appearances for the Rossoneri across all competitions, with coach Sergio Conceição deciding to sub him off at half time during their latest 2-1 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions.
