Lazio will have to do without Valentin Castellanos for about a month, as the club confirmed the striker sustained a serious muscular injury on Saturday.
The 26-year-old limped off during the first half of his side’s 2-2 draw against Napoli last fine settimana, forcing coach Marco Baroni to replace him with Tijjani Noslin.
While Boulaye Dia’s late equaliser saw Lazio further benefit from their attackers’ contribution, Castellano’s injury means they will lose the most prolific of them at a delicate moment of the season.

Lazio confirm Castellanos injury
The striker underwent medical tests on Monday, highlighting a muscular lesion that will keep him sidelined for at least a month, according to TMW.
“Lazio announce that the player Valentin Castellanos underwent clinical and instrumental exams today at Villa Mafalda Clinic,” the club wrote in an official statement.
“The tests revealed a moderate-grade injury to the left thigh adductor, sustained during the last match against Napoli. The player has already started the specific treatment and will undergo daily clinical monitoring to assess recovery times.”

If the initial recovery time is confirmed, Castellanos would also certainly miss Serie A clashes against Milan and Bologna, as well as his side’s fixture at Inter in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
The Argentinean forward is currently the Bianconcelesti’s leading goalscorer, having netted nine league goals this season.
