Napoli brought four new players into their squad during the January transfer window, but Tuesday’s reports claim that the Partenopei had to change Antonio Conte’s minds about one of them, after the tactician initially blocked the move.
Napoli’s transfer window was defined by the departure of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee in excess of €70m, but the Partenopei did not spend quite as heavily as expected to find his replacement.
In the end, Napoli brought four players in over the course of the January window: goalkeeper Simone Scuffet from Cagliari, Luis Hasa from Lecce, Phillip Billing on loan from AFC Bournemouth and Noah Okafor on loan from Milan.
Reports Conte did not approve Napoli’s Scuffet/Caprile deal

According to Tuesday’s reports, however, Conte was not initially pleased about the idea of effectively swapping goalkeepers with Cagliari.
At the same time as Scuffet’s arrival, Napoli also sent back-up goalie Elia Caprile out on loan to Cagliari for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, but Conte reportedly had to be convinced to sign off on the deals, as he had originally vetoed the idea.
