Cesc Fabregas insists he feels like Como ‘won today’ in their 2-1 defeat to Roma when down to 10 men, but outlines where they have to improve.
The Lariani had taken a deserved first half lead at the Stadio Olimpico when Lucas Da Cunha sprung the offside trap on the Maxi Perrone through ball, but Alexis Saelemaekers equalised with the aid of a lucky deflection.
Moments later, Como were reduced to 10 men for the second Marc Kempf yellow card and Artem Dovbyk completed the turnaround for a 2-1 Roma victory.
Although Fabregas was sitting out a touchline ban, he did attend the post-match interviews.
Fabregas sees Como on right track

“I always talk about winning, because we need a winning mentality, but as far as I am concerned, we won today,” Fabregas told Sky Sport Italia.
“We did not pick up three points, but our mentality has improved, and we were able to keep believing even when down to 10 men. I saw a team with character and courage to the end.”
Como are relatively comfortable in mid-table and were coming into this game off back-to-back victories against Fiorentina and Napoli.
“We are a team that creates a lot and doesn’t convert many of those chances, so that is somewhere we need to improve,” noted Fabregas.
“We also get far too many red cards, even if it is not always our fault. We tried to avoid it with some of our substitutions today, but I couldn’t take Kempf off and in the end it was him. If we keep playing like this, then we are on the right track.”
There has been a definite improvement in the Como performances and results since the influx of new signings during the January transfer window, as the club tried to provide players more suited to his style of football.
“My players know if they don’t give their all in training, they won’t play. We are a team that raised the bar, allowing us to grow both individually and collectively.”
