Ahead of the first leg of the Nations League quarter-final between Italy and Germany, here is a look at the Azzurri squad numbers chosen by CT Luciano Spalletti.ย
Despite naming a squad of 25 players for the two-legged quarter-final against Germany, Nations League matches permit a maximum matchday squad of 23, which means that some players will not be involved, despite being called up.ย
The two players in the Italy squad not handed a matchday squad number for the first leg of the Germany quarter-final are Juventusโs Andrea Cambiaso and Fiorentina centre-back Pietro Comuzzo.ย

There is also no Mateo Retegui in the squad after he dropped out and returned to Atalanta for further assessment.ย
Reteguiโs teammate Raoul Bellanova has been called into the squad, as a replacement for the not fully-fit Cambiaso rather than for Retegui. Moise Kean, who will wear the no.9 shirt, is expected to start against Germany.ย
