One remaining scenario for a Serie A title play-off to decide 2024-25 title

After the conclusion of the penultimate round of Serie A fixtures on Sunday night, there is one remaining scenario that will lead to a one-off play-off match between Napoli and Inter to settle the 2024-25 league title. 

The Partenopei have a +1 points advantage over Inter heading into the final round of the season. 

Napoli were held level at 0-0 away against Parma on Sunday night, while Inter were twice pegged back by Pedro and Lazio for an eventual 2-2 draw in San Siro, including a 90th minute equaliser from the penalty spot which denied them the possibilità to go top with one game to go. 

This means that the title is still not settled heading into the final round of Serie A fixtures. 

What needs to happen for a Serie A play-off? 

With one round of the 2024-25 season left to play, there is one remaining scenario that will lead to a play-off for the Serie A title. 

A play-off will ensue if the two teams at the top of the table finish level on points. That means that the title will be settled by a play-off if Napoli lose to Cagliari and if Inter draw away against Como in the final round of the season. 

A victory for Napoli will guarantee them the title. A draw or loss for Napoli means that Inter will win the title if they beat Como, but not with a draw or a loss themselves.
