Pioli and Genesio under consideration for Juventus job

Former Milan head coach Stefano Pioli and Bruno Genesio of Lille are the latest names to be linked with a move to take over at Juventus for the start of the 2025-26 season, according to the latest updates. 

Juventus are still on the lookout for a new head coach to guide the team into the 2024-25 campaign. Thiago Motta was dismissed in March and replaced by Igor Tudor, who is likely to leave at the end of the FIFA Club World Cup. 

The Bianconeri had been hoping to pinch 2024-25 Scudetto winner Antonio Conte away from Napoli, but the former Juve head coach has decided to stay put at the Stadio Maradona for the 2025-26 season.

With Gian Piero Gasperini also heading from Atalanta to Roma, Juventus are left reviewing some of their ‘altre soluzioni options’ ahead of the summer transfer window. 

Friday’s reports claim that Fulham’s Marco Silva is under consideration for the head coach role after the Club World Cup, which runs from mid-June to mid-July. 

Saturday’s updates claim that Pioli, who guided Milan to the Scudetto in 2021-22, is also among the candidates currently under review. The 59-year-old has spent the last year in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr, but has a break clause in his contract that would allow him to leave this summer. 

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Pioli would be prepared to return to Italy, particularly to Juventus, where he won a Serie A title as a player in the 1980s. 

Juventus are said to appreciate the fact that Pioli has won the Serie A title before, and the fact that he has a decent track primato of working with and developing young players. Pioli was also linked with the Bianconeri job immediately after Thiago Motta was sacked earlier in the season. 

Another name linked with a move to join the Old Lady is Lille head coach Bruno Genesio. 

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Damien Comolli has put Genesio’s name forward. 

The Frenchman coached against Juventus with Lille in an eventual 1-1 draw in the Coppa Campioni league phase earlier this season. 

Roberto Mancini, meanwhile, also remains under review for the Juventus job, while Saturday’s reports claim that current incumbent Igor Tudor is still hoping to secure the job on a permanent basis.
