Speaking at his press conference at Coverciano, attended by Football Italia, Spalletti confirmed that Acerbi has โnot responded to the call-upโ and that he is expected to stay at home following Interโs heavy Coppa Campioni final defeat on Saturday night.ย

Spalletti confirms Acerbi will not join Italy national team

โAcerbi did not respond to the call-up,โ Spalletti told the media during his press conference on Sunday.ย
โLetโs move on,โ the CT added. โItโs not a physical issue, heโs thought about whatโs happened around him.ย
โPreviously he had some doubts. Itโs true that we have to hold our breath at the end of the season, it was not easy to make these call-ups.โย

Acerbi had been included in a list of defenders that included club teammate Alessandro Bastoni, Napoliโs Alessandro Buongiorno, Juveโs Andrea Cambiaso, Diego Coppola of Hellas Verona, Napoliโs Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Interโs Federico Dimarco, Milanโs Matteo Gabbia, Juveโs Federico Gatti, Destiny Udogie of Tottenham and Davide Zappacosta of Atalanta.ย
Buongiorno has since left the squad as well, and has been replaced by Fiorentinaโs Luca Ranieri.ย
