Official: Comolli appointed general manager of Juventus

Juventus have officially announced the appointment of Damien Comolli as the club’s new General Manager, following his recent departure from Ligue 1 side Toulouse.

Comolli will report directly to CEO Maurizio Scanavino, and will be responsible for overseeing the football side of the men’s team as well as the marketing and commercial departments. 

The 52-year-old has worked in a number of different roles with a number of different clubs throughout his career to date, including spells as a scout with Arsenal, as well as directorship roles with the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham, Saint-Etienne and Fenerbahce. 

Most recently, he was President of Ligue 1 side Toulouse, but resigned at the end of May in order to take on his new job with Juventus. 

“I am thrilled and privileged to join a Club distinguished by its history, identity and ambitious vision,” Comolli said in a statement published on the Juventus website. 

“From the very first day, I will dedicate my experience to Juventus with the ultimate goal of achieving victory — just as Juventus is meant to, and as our fans rightfully expect.”

CEO Scanavino added: “We are delighted to welcome Damien and extend our best wishes for his journey with us. His expertise and professionalism will play a crucial role in Juventus’ path to continued strength and growth.”

Among the most pressing priorities as things stand at the Allianz Stadium, is the appointment of a new head coach. 

Igor Tudor will lead the team into the Club World Cup, but much is still up in the air after that. Antonio Conte, who had been linked with a return to Turin, has decided to stay on with Napoli, while Gian Piero Gasperini, another Bianconeri target, has decided to join Roma from Atalanta.
