Former Napoli and Italy star Lorenzo Insigne is now available as a free agent, as reports on Tuesday confirm that he has terminated his contract with MLS side Toronto FC one year ahead of schedule.ย
Insigne available for free transfer
Insignem who spent 16 years on Napoliโs books, is now available for free transfers after deciding to leave Toronto one year ahead of his contract expiry, which was originally expected to come in the summer of 2026.ย
The 34-year-old has spent the last three-and-a-half years in Canada, netting 15 goals from 66 league appearances over the last four MLS campaigns.ย

He had originally joined Toronto as a designated player in 2024, meaning that his salary did not count towards the clubโs wage cap. At the time of his signing, Insigne was reportedly the highest earner in MLS.ย
However, he has decided against seeing out the full extent of the four-year contract he signed in the winter of 2022, deciding to leave in search of new opportunities.ย
The former Partenopei forward, who has 96 Serie A goals from 337 appearances on his CV, had been linked with a return to Italy in January, with both Fiorentina and Como among the clubs reported to be interested six months ago.
