Napoli are working on the sale of Giacomo Raspadori to Atletico Madrid, in which case they would reinvest that circa €30m including add-ons into getting Yunus Musah from Milan.
The Spaniards are giving serious thought to raising their offer to circa €30m including bonuses for the Italy international striker.
The current offer on the table is €22m plus €3m for Champions qualification, plus €1m in easy to achieve bonuses, meaning a total of €26m.
Napoli are asking for them to add in a solidarity payment, in which case deal done.
If that does go through, this is when Musah will suddenly leap back to the forefront of Napoli’s agenda.
Musah bid depends also on Raspadori exit from Napoli
We had already reported last night that the Partenopei were ready to resume their pursuit of Musah, albeit acknowledging other clubs like Nottingham Forest are also still interested.
At the end of the day, not just the bid on the table will be decisive, but also what the player wants.
In the transfer duel between these clubs, Dan Ndoye went to Nottingham Forest because the difference was in the transfer fee, but we’ll see what happens with Musah.
The big development is that Napoli are ready to improve upon the €25m offer made in June so that they can make Milan happy and give Antonio Conte the muscular midfielder that he is looking for.
This is why other targets like Fabio Miretti and Giovanni Fabbian are, at least for now, put on stand-by.
All we can say is that in purely tactical terms, Conte wants an explosive presence in midfield with the American’s characteristics.
