Italy international Matteo Ruggeri was tasked with introducing compatriot Giacomo Raspadori in front of the Atletico Madrid tifosi on Thursday night, following their respective transfers from Atalanta and Napoli.
Both Ruggeri and Raspadori have swapped Serie A for LaLiga this summer, both joining Diego Simeone’s side in permanent deals.
Ruggeri was the first of the Italian pair to move, joining Atleti right at the start of the summer transfer window for a fee in the region of €20m. Raspadori followed him in August, at a reported cost of €22m plus €4m in bonuses.

Ahead of their first home league match of the 2025-26 season, the Atletico squad were at the Metropolitano on Thursday night for a pre-season presentation in front of the tifosi, who had an opportunity to see and hear from some of their favourite players.
When it came to the time for Raspadori to be introduced to the crowd, Ruggeri was handed the microphone and was asked to say a few words about his new club teammate.
