Milan director Igli Tare confirms they have not yet made ‘a final decision’ on whether to sign Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen after a series of medical tests.
They begin their Serie A season by hosting Cremonese, kicking off at San Siro at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).
You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game, Sassuolo-Napoli, Genoa-Lecce and Roma-Bologna on the Liveblog.
This is the second competitive match of the campaign for the Rossoneri, who beat Bari here 2-0 last week in the Coppa Italia First Round.
Boniface problem weighing on Milan
Inevitably, the questions for Tare were about Boniface, who has been undergoing a series of in-depth medical tests for two days and still hasn’t completed his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.
“There were no extra medicals,” assured Tare to DAZN Italia.
“We knew that he had problems in the past, we are evaluating everything as planned with regards to the health and fitness of the player.
“His qualities are undoubted. We are just trying to make the right decision for this situation.”
The deal was a paid loan with option to buy at the end of the season for a total of circa €30m.
It has been reported Milan could ask Bayer Leverkusen for a discount on the loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Will a decision be made soon, one way or the other?
“Obviously, soon the transfer deadline will be coming up,” laughed Tare.
“We will discuss it with the coach and make a final decision. We’re not putting pressure on ourselves with a deadline.”
