Will Serie A have a surprise winner in 2025-26?

No Serie A team has retained the title since Juventus in 2019-20, but is there room for more surprises in Italy’s top flight in 2025-26?

Serie A has had four different title winners in the last six years, with Napoli and Inter claiming the Scudetto twice each, and Juventus and Milan winning once each.

The new campaign in Italy’s top flight begins on August 23, and several fans are already predicting the outcome with a free $100 casino chip no deposit required.

Among the clubs finishing in the top eight last season, only Napoli and Juventus have kept their coaches, while the others have all changed their man at the helm.

Antonio Conte’s Napoli are the natural favourites, especially after signing Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer, but expect a season with a few underdogs as the summer transfer window is coming with some intriguing signings for mid-table teams.

The underdogs in 2025-26 Serie A title race

Como, for example, are currently the highest spenders in Serie A, just as they were in the January 2025 transfer window when Cesc Fabregas’ side was looking for reinforcements in the race for survival.

The Azzurri ultimately ended their season in the top 10 and aim for an even better finish in the 2025-26 season.

There are high expectations for new Fiorentina coach Stefano Pioli, who already won the Serie A title with Milan in the 2021-22 season.

“The experiences I’ve had so far have brought me to the highest point of my career,” Pioli said (via TMW) in his unveiling press conference on Wednesday.

“I know there are many expectations here, but I already have a great feeling because I’ve found a lot of human depth in addition to one of the most beautiful training centres I’ve ever seen. I feel ready to do an outstanding job.”

The Parma-born tactician insisted that the Tuscans should aim for a Champions spot, and perhaps even more.

Roma are one of the most storied Italian clubs, but the Giallorossi haven’t won the Scudetto in more than 25 years, as Fabio Capello was the last coach to lift the coveted trophy at the Stadio Olimpico in 2000-01.

The Capolines have hired Gian Piero Gasperini, following his successful nine-year spell at Atalanta, during which he also won the Europa League.

Bologna, still coached by Vincenzo Italiano, one of the most exciting Serie A managers, will defend their status as Coppa Italia champions and aim for the top spots in the league table after qualifying for the Champions in the 2023-24 season under Thiago Motta.

Lazio have welcomed back Maurizio Sarri, but they may be forbidden from making new signings this summer due to financial issues.

Surely, competition for the 2025-26 Scudetto will be fierce and perhaps not only the most famous clubs will be involved in the conversation.
