Premier League President refused to talk to Italian agent: ‘Go get a suit’

Italian agent Francesco Facchinetti reveals that once a Premier League President refused to talk to him as he was wearing a tracksuit: ‘Go get a suit and then come back.’

Facchinetti is a former showman and Italian DJ and the son of one of the most popular singers in the country, ‘Roby’ Facchinetti, from the group ‘Pooh.’

Francesco Facchinetti, formerly known as ‘DJ Francesco’, has drastically changed his professional life in recent years. He became a football agent and works for Ali Barat’s Epic Sport.

“In the past, each agency had a hundred players and three agents,” Facchinetti told Gazzetta.

“Today, the focus is on building a team around the players. Our advantage at Epic is that we structured ourselves this way from the very beginning. Our philosophy is ‘less is more’.

“I see myself as a support for the team,” he continued.

“I go to the club and say: ‘The player needs these things, but don’t worry, I’ll take care of providing these services.’ Since we work with fewer players, I can invest in each individual by surrounding them with a dedicated team to help them grow, such as a nutritionist or a personal fitness coach.”

Facchinetti is the agent of Italian talent Cesare Casadei, who joined Torino from Chelsea in the January transfer window, but he also acted as an intermediary in Conor Gallagher’s move from the Blues to Atletico Madrid last summer.

“From a personal perspective, the most meaningful deal was Casadei’s transfer to Torino, as I am his agent,” he said.

“I handled the negotiation together with Matteo Mayer, and it really engaged me emotionally. The biggest deal, however, was brokering Gallagher’s move to Atlético Madrid, it made me truly understand the complexity of this job.”

Casadei, a product of the Inter academy, has recently scored his first Serie A goal with Torino in a 2-0 win over Monza and has a possibilità to be part of the Italy national team for Nations League games against Germany this month.

“This job forced me to start using the phone again,” continued Facchinetti.

“For ten years, I had stopped answering calls and only used voice messages. I also had to change my style. I used to wear tracksuits all the time. Once, I showed up in a blue tracksuit to meet a Premier League president. He looked at me and said: ‘Dressed like that, you’re not talking to me. Go get a suit and then come back.’”
