Inzaghi: ‘Udinese caused Inter problems already’

Simone Inzaghi warns Udinese ‘caused problems’ for Inter twice already this season and he expects more, especially after being forced into some squad rotation.

The Nerazzurri have the opportunity to consolidate or even expand their lead at the top of the table, as Napoli host Milan in a tricky fixture this evening and Atalanta lost to Fiorentina.

“It will certainly be an important match against a quality team we already faced twice this season, they caused us problems both times and we expect more this evening,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

There was a scraped 3-2 victory in Serie A, then 2-0 in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.

Inzaghi makes Inter changes

Some changes are forced, because Lautaro Martinez, Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielinski are injured, with Alessandro Bastoni suspended.

There is also rest for Nicolò Barella after international duty, but Federico Dimarco and Mattia Darmian return from their lay-offs.

“We have to make choices. We are concentrated on Udinese right now, we know there are nine games in the next 28 days, so we need to call upon everyone,” explained Inzaghi.

“Barella and Bastoni both played 90 minutes in two games for Italy too, but in attack our choices are a bit limited right now.”

Lorenzo Lucca leads the Udinese attack and is one of the centre-forwards who has been linked with Inter for next season, perhaps to replace Marko Arnautovic.

“He is a very good player who is doing well and has been for quite a while at Udinese. Lucca and many other Udinese players are very dangerous, so we need to keep a close eye on them today.”
