Monza are officially the first team to be relegated to Serie B and their only target now is trying not to go down in history for the worst ever Serie A season.
They were beaten 4-0 at home by Atalanta at the U-Power Stadium this afternoon to seal their fate, although it had been obvious for many months already.
Hoping not to set new worst Serie A primato

Now the aim is to avoid breaking the primato for worst ever Serie A campaign, which currently belongs to Venezia for a 20-team Serie A calculating three points for a win.
That tally was 17 points in the 1949-50 campaign and Monza are currently on 15 with three more games left to play.
Monza end their Serie A experience

The Lombardy club had been rescued from bankruptcy in Serie C by former Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi in 2018, who invested heavily and took them to their first ever Serie A promotion in 2022.
Once coach Raffaele Palladino was appointed in September 2022, their fortunes changed and they managed to secure top flight safety with an impressive 52 points.
Their second season also saw mid-table safety on 45 points, although the death of Berlusconi inevitably affected the solidity of the club.
The 2024-25 campaign started badly and just got worse, as they struggled after losing coach Palladino.
Alessandro Nesta was fired after 17 rounds to be replaced by Salvatore Bocchetti, only to be recalled when the replacement had lost six out of seven games in charge.
Their tally after 35 rounds is of just two victories, nine draws and 24 defeats.
