Napoli have confirmed that left-back Mathias Olivera has picked up an injury in training, and now reports suggest that the Partenopei could turn to Fiorentina on the transfer market to find his replacement.

Napoli confirm Olivera injury ahead of Juventus

Napoli have confirmed that Olivera has suffered a muscular injury to the soleus muscle in his left leg and that he has already begun the rehabilitation process. The injury is expected to rule him out of the upcoming Serie A match against Antonio Conte’s former side, Juventus, on Saturday.

As a result of losing Olivera, reports in Italy suggest that they could turn to the transfer market to find a permanent replacement.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Napoli are currently monitoring Fiorentina left-back Cristiano Biraghi and could be tempted to make an offer before the close of the January transfer window.

The Partenopei had discussed the possibility of signing the 32-year-old when the two clubs were discussing a deal for Michael Folorunsho, who moved to Fiorentina from Napoli earlier in the transfer window.
